As of June 26,
2007, approximately 4,500 volunteers have helped St. Bernard Project rebuild almost 85 families' homes.
And the need is still great in St. Bernard Parish. Thousands of families still struggle to get back into their homes.
Ever wonder what one
day of your life can do for a family who is trying to rebuild their hurricane ravaged home? In one day a volunteer can:
-hang sheetrock in several rooms
-repair or reinstall a roof
-install a new floor
-rewire a small house
Now that you know what can
be done in a day, imagine what you can be done in two days. One week. Two weeks. One month. Double that if you bring a friend.
Or multiply it by the size of your team.
By
volunteering, you will help a family rebuild their house, move out of their FEMA trailer and get back into their home.
And, not only will you see the immediate results of your work but you will get to work along side a family and hear
their story. You will learn their story of survival and what they love about their community. And then
you can share their story with your family and friends and make sure that it is not forgotten.
