Volunteers are the heart and soul of this organization.  If you or some one you know would like to volunteer, send an e-mail with your name group size and dates you would like to work to volunteer@stbernardproject.org with volunteer opportunity as the subject line.

One of the core values of the St. Bernard Project is to assign only the right amount of volunteers to each house and not more.  While that prevents us from taking on more volunteers than our maximum capacity, we feel that it prevents redundant work and allows us to provide appropriate supervision.

You can also download our volunteer arrival packet which will answer a lot of your volunteer-related questions. Click here.

Thanks again for your willingness to volunteer and invest in the rebuilding of St. Bernard Parish! For more info on the St. Bernard Project, you can email us at info@stbernardproject.org

His happy face will greet you in the office if you're lucky!

As of June 26, 2007, approximately 4,500 volunteers have helped St. Bernard Project rebuild almost 85 families' homes.  And the need is still great in St. Bernard Parish. Thousands of families still struggle to get back into their homes.

Ever wonder what one day of your life can do for a family who is trying to rebuild their hurricane ravaged home? In one day a volunteer can:

   -hang sheetrock in several rooms

   -repair or reinstall a roof

   -install a new floor

   -rewire a small house

Now that you know what can be done in a day, imagine what you can be done in two days. One week. Two weeks. One month. Double that if you bring a friend. Or multiply it by the size of your team.

By volunteering, you will help a family rebuild their house, move out of their FEMA trailer and get back into their home. And, not only will you see the immediate results of your work but you will get to work along side a family and hear their story.  You will learn their story of survival and what they love about their community. And then you can share their story with your family and friends and make sure that it is not forgotten.

If interested, please contact our Volunteer Director at: volunteer@stbernardproject.org or (504) 277-6831. Please include the number and ages of people in your party.
For more information, read the Volunteer Arrival Packet.
If you are coming down, fill out the volunteer waiver for work.
