San Marcos, Texas
Memorial Day weekend of 2015 saw devastating flooding in central Texas. Soon after, SBP deployed a team to San Marcos to help impacted families begin rebuilding. Over the Halloween weekend in October of 2015, a second flood event struck San Marcos. Homes that had been flooded in the spring and were under various stages of rebuilding, or had already been rebuilt, were once again filled with water. Though the flood water during the second event was not as deep as it was the first time, it was more widespread, damaging more homes and neighborhoods in, and around San Marcos.
The Texas SBP team has expanded to assist homeowners affected by both flood events, and is currently working in Kyle, Martindale, Wimberley, and other affected areas in the region. To date, SBP has returned nearly 20 families home, and aims to rebuild for 30 families in 2016.
SBP has been working closely with community partners including the United Way of Hays County, and officials at the local and regional level to ensure a prompt, efficient and predictable recovery for those who cannot rebuild on their own.
