As the St. Bernard Project continues to rebuild homes in New Orleans, we cannot ignore the tragedy in Haiti, nor can we help but recognize the similarities between this horrendous earthquake and the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
Like in Port au Prince, 100 percent of the homes in St. Bernard Parish were destroyed and rendered uninhabitable. Seventy percent of the homes in New Orleans were underwater. The St. Bernard Project deals with the aftermath of such a natural disaster every day, and our thoughts and support are with the victims of the Haitian earthquake as they start their long process of recovery.
Thank you for your support during the Chase Community Giving Facebook competition. With your votes and efforts SBP was awarded $62,000. SBP will use these funds to rebuild homes for many more deserving families.
