Women’s Rebuild Week

Women's Rebuild Week is May 24-29!

SBP needs your ideas and connections! Our goal is to raise at least $60,000 for our May Women's Rebuild, enough to rebuild 4 homes. Please help us kick start our fundraising effort by sending us ideas of foundations, corporations or institutions that would be interested in sponsoring the St. Bernard Project particularly under the banner of Women's Rebuild Week.

Let us know if you'd like to sponsor a fundraiser specifically for Women's Rebuild.

About Women's Rebuild

More than 200 women leaders gather for a week twice a year in St. Bernard and Orleans Parishes to take part in the St. Bernard Project’s (SBP) Women’s Rebuild Week.

In partnership with the United Way for the Greater New Orleans Area Women’s Leadership Council (WLC), this weeklong event unites strong women and empowers them to help rebuild at least 20 homes in the Greater New Orleans area. Women’s Rebuild week is about strong women helping strong women in the fight for recovery, and demonstrating a women’s place is rebuilding the home.

“I can’t imagine a more rewarding way to give back to the community,” said Margo DuBos, WLC 2009 Chair. “Beads of sweat mixed with tears of joy on a day when the volunteers are as happy as the families getting their new homes.”

Join the St. Bernard Project's and Women's Leadership Council's efforts in empowering women to rebuild the New Orleans area. Together, we can rebuild the homes of hardworking families.

Volunteers work throughout the week to rebuild the homes of Katrina survivors. These women (and their male counterparts) participate in all phases of the rebuilding process including hanging insulation and drywall, painting, flooring and installing doors and windows.

The event draws volunteers from across the country, as well as strong female role models. In addition to the regular workdays, SBP and WLC provide special events for volunteers and local community members, such as an opening picnic, a welcome home party, a happy hour, and an awards reception highlighting special partners, donors and volunteers.
