We ask you to join us in remembering this day by becoming part of our yearlong campaign—4 NOLA. We are aspiring to host 100 fundraisers across North America in commemoration of the enduring Katrina-related housing needs and the four years of progress since Katrina. Think you can raise enough to rebuild a whole house, moving a family out of temporary housing and back home? Want to aim to rebuild a family’s kitchen, so they can once again cook homemade meals? 4 NOLA fundraising guides will give you attainable goals and event ideas, as well as promotional materials to help you get the word out about St. Bernard Project.

Your fundraiser will help ensure that four years later, families have not been forgotten. We have found that for just $15,000, we can move deserving citizens back to their homes. You can be part of this simple solution, with support from St. Bernard Project marketing and development staff. We can answer any questions about raising money for our homeowners, and we will be there to channel your ideas into successful events.

With the support of individuals and groups who are 4 NOLA, we can continue to expand and efficiently rebuild even more homes in fewer than 12 weeks. And with your help, we can raise the money to rebuild those homes with only $15,000 worth of building supplies.

We are 4 NOLA because we believe families deserve to return home. Please help to show the people of New Orleans that they are not forgotten, even four years after Katrina. Set aside a day 4 NOLA by holding a fundraiser in your hometown.

More than 15 fundraisers have already been scheduled or occurred. Here are some highlights of fundraisers that are already happening across the country.

  • Adam's Attic, an independent, internationally touring power pop/rock band who relocated to Los Angeles when their homes were damaged by Hurricane Katrina, headlined a concert on November 7, 2009, at The Viper Room in L.A. to benefit the St. Bernard Project. Also performing at the concert was Purple Melon, Thomas' Apartment, Jenni Alpert, John Clinebell, John Zay, Letters Burning, and Willem & Dakota.

  • Marion McCartney hosted a D.C. 4 NOLA fundraising party featuring a “taste of New Orleans” cuisine, live jazz music, a silent auction and an opportunity to sign up for a work trip to NOLA. Guest also got to meet and discuss the enduring needs in the Greater New Orleans region with SBP co-founders Liz McCartney and Zack Rosenburg.

  • Amy Morris, of Denver, Colo., decided to celebrate her 50th birthday in a big way. Not only did she bring a group of about 20 friends down to work on the Mendoza and R. Smith homes for two days, but her friends donated to SBP in lieu of birthday gifts, so far raising more than $1,900.

  • Finn McCool's owner, Pauline Patterson, held a Louisiana Lovefest 4 NOLAon the anniversary of Katrina. Patrons donated $1,512 towards the St. Bernard Project and Finn McCool's also made a donation making the total $1,723, which represents the official number of people who died during Katrina.

  • The Staten Island 4 NOLA event, organized by Mara Montablano, raised more than $5,100 for SBP. About 70 guests enjoyed Cajun, Italian and Spanish food donated from Da Noi and Beso restaurants, a local Jazz band played, local businesses donated silent auction items and an artist designed t-shirts, which were sold at the event. • For her 4 NOLA fundraiser, Jaime Burns, of Sellersville, Penn., cooked up a bunch of Cajun food, including jambalaya, red beans and rice, macaroni and cheese and Cajun chicken for more than 30 guests. Burns held her event on the anniversary of Katrina, so naturally, it was raining in Pennsylvania. Her guests played foosball, ping pong and bean bags in her garage, enjoyed Abita beers and raised more than $1,700. Burns fundraiser was covered in the local paper.

  • Maureen Collins, Kelly Snape and Patti Kurtz held their 4 NOLA event at a bar in Chicago, which featured Madri Gras decorations, a DJ and Abita Brewing Company’s Restoration Ale as a drink special. Guests paid an entry fee of $10 and the bar donated 25 percent of their total take from the night, raising $1,180 all together.

  • Jay and Mallory Rogers, who've volunteered with SBP, recently celebrated their 50th and 21st birthdays, respectively. The father and daughter asked guests at their joint birthday party to donate to SBP in lieu of gifts, raising almost $1,000 to help get families home.
